THECLA A DARK ROMANCE TRILOGY
FICTION ROMANCE/DYSTOPIAN/ADVENTURE/MATURE –
After losing her parents and surviving The Reckoning, a catastrophic earthquake that nearly destroyed all of North America, young Thecla survived on her own in the remains of the destruction, known as The Wastelands against all odds. Seven years later, now a fiercely, self-trained warrior and hunter-gatherer, Thecla is suddenly introduced into a new order of civilization known as Carpathia, a pious community where the prominent Bishop Kato governs. There she discovers Throane, a friend she thought was another lone survivor, living in luxury as Bishop Kato’s general and engaged to his self-absorbed daughter, Amir. Looked upon as an unclean savage living in the The Wastelands, Thecla is held prisoner in Carpathia as Bishop believes her survival skills could be useful to his army called The Fraternity.
Thecla quickly discovers that Bishop Kato’s religious order isn’t as holy as all of Carpathia has been led to believe. Betrayed, heartbroken, and rejected, Thecla turns to Quintus, the soldier who brought her in from the Wastelands. She soon learns that his friendship comes at a price along with some hard truths about Carpathia’s double standards. Thecla quickly discovers that her survival skills and instincts that kept her alive in the brutal, wild and untamed Wastelands is no match for her new life in Carpathia.
What People are Saying about the book “Thecla”:
Wow! Just, wow! That’s exactly what I thought when I finished reading the new book. This story line grabbed me from the very first words and kept me obsessively reading all the way through to the very end. The author DM has done an absolutely fantastic job in creating characters, especially Thecla, that readers will connect with, relate to, and truly come to care about. If that isn’t a hallmark of a great author, I’m not sure what is. The descriptions of the wasted surroundings are simply second to none. This book is exciting, adventurous, and full of thrills.

I usually read self-help books, so “Thecia” was an interesting departure for me and I loved every second of reading it! D.M. Mooney’s style of writing is spellbinding and her gift for intricate and vivid descriptions allowed me to visualize every scene, and it was exciting and intriguing. This author has quite an imagination (!), and as I read, I could see this book being made into a movie. More, please, D.M. Mooney.

It was a fine first effort and a well plotted, highly descriptive story, entertaining and sometimes gripping. It has some deliciously sexy scenes in it, some of them quite explicitly torrid, giving a nice bit of relief from the sometimes stark events that burden the young heroine.
~Tasha Halpert, Author of “Up to My Neck in Lemons”
This is a powerful story with wonderfully crafted characters. Thecla: A Dark Romance is riveting, absorbing, and delightful to read, the kind of book that transports the reader into dreamland and makes them walk with the memorable characters long after they are done reading.
